La Chassagne is home to some 20 horses. Half of them are sturdy Friesians. The Friesians are used for driving. Should you be interested, please mention your interest on the reservations form. You can of course tell us of your interest when you are here, but we cannot guarantee the possibility of a drive during your stay in this case. Chassage is surrounded by an area of natural beauty that is ideally suited for wandering around with horses.
Activities with horses Our horses are here for your pleasure and ours. You can join in a ride with the Marathon cart. You may also decide to take a short course in driving the horse and cart or extend your experience of cart-driving on the French forest tracks. Young visitors can come along on the cart and are also invited to begin their experience with horses at an early age by joining us in the care and feeding of the horses and ponies. You may own a horse and be interested in joining a course in the handling of horses. On this website we will keep you informed about the organisation of courses. We offer the further opportunity of a tailor-made course during your stay. You are welcome to bring your own horse for this purpose.
Guidance Our horse-related activities are run by a team of professionals who offer valuable assistance.
Our offer Guided 2-hour ride with the Marathon cart: maximum of 4 adults or 3 adults and 2 children. Day trips: departure at 11 am, picnic at 1 pm, back at the castle by 3.30 pm. € 62.50 per person, minimum of 3 adults, or 2 adults and 2 children (children half price). Should you wish, you are very welcome to join us in the mornings and evenings in the care and feeding of the horses.
