The Auvergne is a lovely area in the centre of France. The region is made up of four departments and offers a wide range of options for an enjoyable holiday. Further reasons for its popularity as a holiday destination are the contrasts that you will find in this region and the variety of landscape. The Auvergne is home to only 2.5% of the French population, leaving lots of space for natural beauty which you will find in abundance in this part of France.

To the north of the Auvergne region you will find the Allier department and the river of the same name. The Allier has a gravel riverbed that curves and winds its way through the landscape. The landscape is one of great natural beauty.

Vichy and Moulins are cities in the area that are well worth a visit. Surrounding Saint Pourçain you will find one of the oldest wine growing districts in France. An 80 km round trip by car starting in Moulin will take you around the best places to visit.
